Simone Neeling and Sophie Delleman, two students from Holland

Simone Neeling  and Sophie Delleman are 19 years old students from Nijmegen, Holland.
They chose ISEM for the one semester international exchange, so let’s find out something more in the following interview.

Why did you choose ISEM for your international exchange?

Simone: In our studies it was kind of obligation to go abroad for a half of a year. Our university has a contract with the ISEM in Montpellier. And we chose ISEM Montpellier as a first university  because it has the most similarities with our studies in Holland.

Sophie:  We had the possibility to choose Paul Valéry University as it has many things in common with our studies in Netherlands . Anyway I preferred to do something related to Economy, Marketing and Management. So that’s why I preferred to come here.

How will ISEM studies help you in your future career?

Simone:  We have some courses concerning Marketing and Management, so after my Bachelor’s degree I would like to get my Masters in Marketing. ISEM is a great opportunity to learn something more about Marketing that I didn’t learn in Holland. So I think ISEM will help me to get useful knowledge. In this way I’d like to specialize in this field and to continue my Masters in Holland.

Sophie: It’s really helpful. Here you try to develop yourself. It is a great opportunity to learn a different culture and to do everything by yourself, with other words, to be independent, without relying on parents for help. You have to speak to French people; it’s really nice to be here.

Tell us something more about your adaptation experience.

Simone: It’s quite difficult to really be in contact with French people. They talk to you, they always are ready to offer a helping hand, but of course they already have their own friends, and they don’t need some foreigners who will leave in six months. Luckily here are so many ERASMUS students. They are so open-minded and so cool. One activity that makes me happy is playing basket. I’m in contact with my teammates. It gets easier when you experience the French life by participating in associations, because it helps you to connect with French people.

Sophie: There are a lot of ERASMUS people here and I think we can become friends, but it’s nice to have contact with French people. At the begging we really didn’t have contact with anyone in the classes, but now the French students come to us, we have conversations and we try to create harmonious and relationships. The associations and sports are the opportunities to  get to know the French people.

Kom studeren aan de ISEM, dat wil je niet missen!
